Southern Culture Class

When in the South, do as the Southerners do??? Are you an International student wanting to learn more about Southern Culture and history, particularly that of Mississippi and the University? If so, we've got a learning opportunity for you.
This class in Southern Culture is not for credit or grades and is free to participants. Classes will meet for an hour each week with two to three different days/times being offered each week (the schedule will be released at least two weeks prior to the start of the semester). There is no commitment to come to every class, especially since a different topic will be addressed each week, although it could certainly be beneficial to come to all of them. The class will be led by Kelly Slater, a senior English Education undergraduate student.
Topics discussed in the class include but are not limited to Education, Southern Food, Rules/Regulations of American Football, Southern Literature, Regions of Mississippi, Civil Rights Movement, and more. These topics are flexible though to the needs and learning goals of each class.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about the program, please let us know!
